The Two Steps to Preventing Dry Skin

As fall gets cut short by the cool winter winds, and the clock causes the sun to set sooner than we would like, dry skin begins to cause problems for most. Dry skin is an issue that is so easy to solve, all it takes is a trip to your local Ulta. I use a two step system that works for all skin types so I have been able to recommend it to several of my friends, all that have different skin types and it has worked for them as well.

Step One: to prevent dry skin any time of the day

I currently have the travel size of the spray, which is great to throw in my bag in case of a needed refresher.

When I get out of the shower, I pat my face dry to allow the water to stay on my skin for as long as possible. I then turn to my Mario Badescu Facial Spray. The spray I am currently using has aloe, cucumber and green tea in it to soothe skin. This is the real powerhouse product of the article, because you can use it through out the day whenever you would like. I spray some on my face before using my moisturizer, but I can also use it whenever I’m feeling dry. The spray works for all skin types and is great for sensitive skin because it won’t break you out. The Mario Badescu brand is also great because it’s made in the USA and is cruelty free.

Step Two: dry skin stopped right away

While pricey for a drug store moisturizer, this product is worth every penny. Why shouldn’t you invest in your skin?

For moisturizer I use what I consider my Holy Grail beauty product: the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel. While this might seem pricy for a moisturizer you can find at your local drug store, the smallest amount of this product can hydrate your whole face. This product is the poster child for ‘a little goes a long ways’ and usually lasts me my summer break and fall semester of classes. The entire Hydro Boost line is great, but this product by far is my favorite. I was first introduced my freshman year of college and I haven’t turned back.

The biggest issue I think women face with moisturizers is that we look for products that can do it all, whether it be preventing acne, removing dark spots, or stopping wrinkles. My best advice would be to take your time with skin care; most of the time products that are a one-stop shop are not the best for your skin. Take the time to treat your skin correctly and you’ll see amazing results.
